Location:
The Estuary of the Jordan River to the Sea of Galilee.
Total Size of the Site – 230,000 m².
Background:
This area was a Syrian military post surrounded by minefields controlling the Jordan estuary. Over the years the water level of the nearby sea has fluctuated and on 2 recorded occasions the water level has risen to the point where the minefields were completely covered in water, causing A.P mines to migrate and cover a vast area.
Mission:
Clearance of A.P mines on a widespread area. The area was covered in extremely dense vegetation, water level was shallow, the mines were Non-Metallic and most the most complicated factor was that earth movement during the floods has dictated the clearance depths in some areas to 1.5 meters.
SOPs:
Technical Survey, mechanical Demining by means of hydraulic sifting buckets on armored excavators.
Duration:
In total over 6 Months of operation spread between 2018-2019
Ammunitions:
Hundreds of A.P mines including PPMISR, PPMIBA, PMD6.
